GOTVAX

 The Challenge:

GOTVax works to create a more equitable vaccine rollout in Boston MA by hosting pop-up vaccination clinics throughout the city in vulnerable communities such as Chelsea, East Boston, and Rosindale. This campaign focuses on creating trusted and verified messengers to talk with the community about accurate vaccination information.

Open Progress and GOTVax partnered in March of 2021 to reach more than 100,000 members of the community, nearly one sixth of Boston’s entire population. Out of our conversations almost 8% of those who our volunteers talked to scheduled an appointment to get vaccinated, with over 11% of those scheduled bringing additional people.

 The Result:

When compared to similar counties, Suffolk County (Boston) had over a 10% increase in vaccination rates, compared to demographically similar urban counties such as Kings County NY. Peer-to-Peer texting efforts proved effective at increasing vaccination rates compared to other jurisdictions.

At the conclusion of our work in June, 2021, over 60% of Chelsea, East Boston, and Roslindale received at least one dose of the vaccine, one of the higher rates in the country.
